Who am I.....

Dr. Justin Louder's journey in higher education is a story of dedication, passion, and relentless drive to improve. As the Associate Vice President for Academic Innovation at Anthology, he's not just sitting at the strategy table; he's working hands-on with campuses across North America to redefine the modern student experience.

During his time at Texas Tech University's Worldwide Learning, Justin played a pivotal role in its growth. From establishing regional teaching sites to launching a wide array of online and distance degree programs, his leadership saw the university gain recognition, especially for its impressive array of online or hybrid doctoral degrees. Beyond his administrative roles, Justin served as a faculty member in the College of Education, directly impacting students' lives.

Education has always been at the heart of Justin's pursuits. He holds a B.A. in Communication and Psychology, an M.A. in Communication from Angelo State University, an Ed.D. in Instructional Technology with a focus on Higher Education Administration from Texas Tech University, and an M.P.A. in Governmental Administration from Wayland Baptist University.

While at Texas Tech, Justin chaired the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) Learning Technologies Advisory Committee (LTAC). In this role, he offered guidance on various learning methods and even shared his insights about online learning and K-12 education with Texas legislative committees.

Now, at Anthology, Justin collaborates closely with institutions as they chart new paths and develop innovative programs. He lends his expertise, supporting them in enhancing online learning experiences, integrating the latest technologies, and fostering environments that prioritize the learner. His writings and presentations on topics like AI in Higher Education, Trauma-Informed Instruction, micro-credentials, and culturally responsive online teaching provide valuable resources to educators and administrators alike.

Teaching Philosophy

In a rapidly evolving educational landscape, I believe in the imperative of adaptability, inclusivity, and innovation. Having witnessed and spearheaded transformative shifts in the realm of higher education, my teaching philosophy is rooted in three core principles:


Learner-Centered Paradigm: At the heart of every educational initiative lies the learner. Whether through traditional classroom settings, hybrid environments, or fully online modalities, it is crucial to design experiences that are responsive to individual needs, preferences, and cultural backgrounds. Every student brings a unique perspective, and our systems and methodologies should honor and amplify that uniqueness.


Harnessing Technological Advancements: We live in an era where technology has democratized information and made learning accessible beyond geographical and temporal confines. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies, such as AI, is not just about staying relevant, but about enhancing pedagogical outcomes and facilitating deeper, more meaningful engagements. While technology is a tool, when wielded judiciously, it can catalyze transformative educational experiences.


Holistic and Empathetic Engagement: Beyond the curriculum and beyond technology, education is fundamentally a human enterprise. My experiences in trauma-informed instruction and culturally responsive online teaching underscore the importance of viewing learners holistically. Education is as much about intellectual rigor as it is about emotional and social growth. By fostering environments that are safe, inclusive, and nurturing, we enable students to thrive not just academically but also personally.


In my roles spanning administrative and instructional capacities, I've consistently aimed to intertwine these principles, ensuring that policies, strategies, and day-to-day practices are aligned with the broader vision of creating impactful, accessible, and resilient educational ecosystems.


The future of education is boundless filled with both challenges and opportunities. By remaining steadfast in our commitment to the learner, embracing the transformative potential of technology, and nurturing holistic development, we can not only navigate this future but also shape it in ways that reflect our shared ideals of equity, excellence, and empowerment.
